Ask the Expert #4 – Webinar

We kindly invite everyone who is interested in reading apps and accessibility to join the APACE team on Tuesday 25 February 2025 online and pose your questions to our expert, Richard Orme, CEO of the DAISY Consortium. 

Join us on 25 February, 11.00h – 12.00h (CET) 

A reading system, which could be an app, a website, or hardware device, is needed to read digital publications. Readers can vary in their features and functionality. In this online session we will give you an idea of the different reading systems, what their features are and which of those features are useful for persons with a print impairment. 

Our accessibility expert 

Richard Orme is the CEO of the DAISY Consortium, a global consortium of organisations committed to creating tools and standards to make information accessible for persons with a print impairment. In one of their more recent projects DAISY delivered authoritative evaluations of EPUB reading systems to reveal the user experience for people with the most common reading disabilities.

Ask the expert - Webinars

If you are a publishing professional or interested in learning more about accessibility, this type of event format is a unique opportunity to engage with experts in the accessibility field and ask them questions on specific topics. Each “Ask the Expert” event is a one-hour webinar, allowing participants to explore a specific topic in-depth and pose questions to the experts. During registration, participants are encouraged to submit in advance questions related to the event topic.

APACE (Accelerating Publishing Accessibility through Collaboration in Europe) is a medium-scale cooperation project co-funded in the framework of the Creative Europe programme for a duration of 24 months (January 2024 – December 2025).

The APACE network aims to enhance the capacity of the European publishing industry in the accessibility field, filling the current gap of competences and creating a new generation of professional experts.
